Ugly Sweater Bowling

After quite a few years of the Hunzeker "kids" drawing names for a gift exchange - which inevitably ended up as all of us asking each other what they wanted and in some cases just handing over the cash limit, we decided to start a new tradition.  We decided that each year one of us would plan on outing that all of our family could participate in.  Nobody knew where we were going until they opened their gifts -- an ugly Christmas sweater that they had to wear for the day of Mabes Pizza and Bowling in Decorah.  The teams were the guys against the girls, and although Mom Hunzeker was a superstar bowler and her years of league play came back to her much more quickly than Dad's, the guys were the winners -- by a landslide.

Christmas

We had a wonderful Christmas.  We tackled 8 Christmas parties in 4 days and came home with two very exhausted kids.  Jaxon figured out the present-unwrapping pretty quickly and he was very willing to help everyone else open their presents too.  This was our attempt to get a family Christmas photo.  And while we couldn't get everyone looking at the camera at the same time, it did a great job of capturing Jaxon's "cheese" and Jada's current fascination with Jaxon.

Now it's back to work -full time for me after a great maternity leave. And it's basketball season full-speed ahead!

A 2-year old wrapping presents

Guess what happens when you let your 2 year old help wrap Dad's Christmas present.....

This morning Chris discovered his present under the tree and said, "Jaxon, there's a present for me under there!"

To which my great secret-keeper replied, "It's an egg maker!" (ommlett maker).  There went that surprise.  Maybe next year.

Jada's 12-week update

Jada is 12 weeks old, and growing like a weed.  She is 11 pounds and 24 inches.  She smiles often, mostly at Jaxon and she laughed for the first time at me singing Jingle Bells, which doesn't say much for my singing!

Sick, sick, sick!

We survived our first week of winter sickness, as Jaxon got a viral infection on his face, as well as a host of other not-so-fun symptoms.  Luckily. Jada did not get sick due to her rock-star immune system.    We're glad to report that everyone is nearly healthy, and expect to be at full speed by Christmas.

Welcome!

Welcome to the Strinmoen Family website! We have switched from our much-loved Baby Jellybeans site in exchange for a free option.

We're nearing Christmas and are excited for a 4 day stretch full of family get-togethers, great food, church, and lots of commotion.  Jaxon is pretty indifferent about Santa, though we sure wish the "Santa's watching" line had a little more pull.

We're also looking forward to giving the St. John's congregation some likely entertainment, as we somehow got volunteered to serve as the Holy Family during the Christmas Eve service.  I did warn the coordinator that we are often the loud ones in church in the back pew!

Merry Christmas to you and your families!
